The UK is currently seeing a dramatic rise in wholesale energy prices and this is resulting in customers facing significant domestic fuel bill increases. This comes as we enter the time of the year when central heating systems get switched back on to compensate for colder weather.

Many smaller energy firms have collapsed in recent weeks as they have been unable to afford the increased wholesale cost and the UK energy price cap limits how much of this cost can be passed on to customers. The cap limit will increase from the 1st of October however and this coupled with the reduction in the Universal Credit £20.00 uplift brought in during the Covid-19 pandemic will see a conisderable increase in energy costs for many.

Ore Valley are monitoring the situation closely and we would ask everyone to complete this anonymous online survey as part of a national effort to monitor the impact of these price increases by Scottish housing associations. It is a chance for you to have your say on the issue.
