CIH Scotland award for OVHA initiative

 Ore Valley Housing Association and its subsidiary Fife HARCA Ltd. have been awarded the Chartered Institute of Housing Scotland's Excellence in Regeneration Award for 2010.
 
Along with partners Fife Council, Dearle and Henderson Architects and the Lochgelly Regeneration Forum, OVHA has been heavily involved in the regeneration of Lochgelly including the provision of new mainstream and amenity housing, new sheltered housing and the refurbishment of existing stock.  The regeneration also includes a major community project housed in the former Lochgelly Miner's Institute as well as a new Business Centre for start-up businesses.
 
 

 
The Award will be presented by Alex Neil MSP, Minister for Housing and Commu nities at the CIH Scotland Annual Conference and Exhibition in Glasgow in March.

Andrew Saunders Director of Ore Valley Housing Association and its subsidiary Fife HARCA, commented:
 "In all of our work in Lochgelly we have tried to address the issues which are important to local people. It has been a pleasure working with the dedicated community in Lochgelly and we look forward to working with local people in the years to come on the continuing and emerging challenges facing the town."

 
 
Alan Ferguson, Director of CIH Scotland and part of the judging panel said:
 "This project demonstrated a series of well connected projects dealing with housing, employment, business and community concerns.  There is evidence of mature partnership working with strong community input and leadership across all activities. Lochgelly is a well deserved winner and has been successful in improving quality and choice of housing through to community facilities to the public realm."
