Following the installation of a Community Public Access Defibrillator at Ore Valley Housing Association head office in Cardenden, we are pleased to announce that a second defibrillator has now been installed at the Ore Valley Business Centre.
This has been undertaken to enhance the public safety provision available within the town, increasing the chances of saving someone's life during an emergency. Early basic life support and defibrillation give the best chances of survival for a patient who is suffering a cardiac arrest.
The defibrillators are housed in bright yellow boxes, designed to be visible and obvious, and can be opened by simply twisting the handle on the door when required.
The device itself is designed to be straightforward to use, giving visual and verbal feedback to the user during the emergency. It will take the user through the necessary steps and only provide the defibrillation charge if required.
The devices have also been registered with the Scottish Ambulance Service so that first responders in the area are aware of their availability should they need it.
In all emergency circumstances, the most important thing is to call 999 for assistance first...
By having such devices accessible, quickly and easily, 24 hours a day in our community, Ore Valley is pleased to enhance the safety of our local residents and visitors.
