Ore Valley Housing Association has installed a Community Public Access Defibrillator at its head office in Cardenden.
This has been undertaken to enhance the public safety provision available within the town, increasing the chances of saving someone's life during an emergency. Early basic life support and defibrillation give the best chances of survival for a patient who is suffering a cardiac arrest.
The defibrillator device is located next to the bus stop on Station Road on the front of the housing association's head office. The bright yellow box is designed to be visible and obvious and can be opened by simply twisting the handle on the door when required.
The device itself is designed to be straightforward to use, giving visual and verbal feedback to the user during the emergency. It will take the user through the necessary steps and only provide the defibrillation charge if required.
The device has also been registered with the Scottish Ambulance Service so that first responders in the area are aware of its availability should they need it.
In all emergency circumstances, the most important thing is to call 999 for assistance first...
By having such a device accessible quickly and easily 24 hours a day in our community, OVHA is pleased to enhance the safety of our local residents and visitors.
