Ore Valley Housing Association (OVHA) is developing a number of wind energy projects aimed at delivering direct benefits to a number of towns in Fife. OVHA seeks to develop large-scale wind turbines in the environs of Cardenden, Leven, Kennoway and Methil which will deliver significant carbon savings as well as revenue for local improvements and regeneration projects.
All the profits generated by the wind turbines will be split between OVHA and a community-led group that will determine where and when the revenues will be spent. OVHA will utilise their share to improve social housing provision in the respective project areas whilst the community share will be distributed via a 'community chest' designed to support local projects and developments. By developing a number of wind turbines across Fife, OVHA hopes to address a number issues that directly impact local residents including fuel poverty, community regeneration, climate change
The wind turbine projects are at an advanced stage of development and OVHA is currently working on raising the profile of these activities with local residents. Our most recent development is a link-up with East Fife Football Club as we jointly explore the possibility of a turbine based at EFFC's New Bayview Stadium in Methil. Initial reaction has been positive to this project and OVHA will seek to further engage directly with the residents of Levenmouth.
